How To Survive the Chrome Education Price Increase
Blog / How To Survive the Chrome Education Price Increase
*Updated on December 31, 2020. Due to the spread of COVID-19, many educational institutions are facing closures. Given the unique circumstances, Google has decided to delay the price increase until March 9, 2021 (prices were originally planned to increase on March 9, 2020).
Google recently announced that the Chrome Education Upgrade and Chrome Non-Profit Upgrade will increase in price on March 9, 2021. We wanted to give you the rundown on why this is happening, when it is happening, and how you can survive it.
Last fall, Google extended the Auto-Update Expiration (AUE) date on many Chromebooks currently for sale as well as new Chromebooks that will launch in the future. This provides many devices an additional year or more before they reach their AUE date. In addition, there are now over 200 policies available to administrators through the Chrome Education Upgrade (formerly Chrome Education license) while Google continues to invest in adding new features based on educator feedback.
So what does this all mean?
In line with these enhancements to the Chrome Education Upgrade, Google will be increasing the price of the Chrome Education Upgrade AND the Chrome Non-Profit Upgrade, from $30 USD to $38 USD globally effective March 9, 2021. Promevo's list CAD pricing is derived from USD pricing and will fluctuate with the USD to CAD currency exchange. This pricing will always be reflected on our Chrome Education Upgrade and Chrome Non-Profit Upgrade product listings.
We know a Chrome Education and Non-Profit price increase sounds scary, but don't worry! We want to help you.
